East Grand Forks, MN — After suffering a defeat to Warroad nine days prior to Saturday, East Grand Forks bounced back with the underdog victory in a Northwest Conference and Section 8AA North standoff.
After losing 64-52 on Feb. 4 in Warroad, the Green Wave’s woes ended with a 66-62 victory over the Warriors in a contest that saw 11 lead changes and eight ties. The final tie was broken at 59-59 when EGF senior Tyson Mahar grooved his fifth 3-pointer of the afternoon from the left corner with 1:17 left in regulation. With all the momentum vacuumed out, the Warriors couldn’t hit a trey for the tie and split the regular season with EGF.
