Non-conference matchup between the Hawley Nuggets and the East Grand Forks Green Wave, was physical from the tip.  Green Wave got out to a 6-0 run to start the game.  With all momentum going to the home team, until Hawley took timeout early and recouped their team back to go on a 9-3 run halfway through the first half.  That’s where it stood for 4 minutes on the game clock.  No team seemed like they could get the ball in the hoop.  Until Kaylie Crabtree broke out in the last 2 minutes in the half, scoring 6 of her 10 first half points in that time frame and helping the Nuggets to a 20-15 halftime lead.

Once the Second Half started, Kylie Crabtree was the only player that could find the bottom of the net early in the half scoring 8 points by herself.  Green Wave didn’t go down without a fight, and got some help from two freshman, Mya Langerud and Alison Kovar combined for 10 points in the second half including a pair of 3’s to cut down the Nuggets lead to single digits with 5 minutes to play.  Late in the game the Green Wave just were not able to shrink the Hawley lead past 9, and the Nuggets late game free throw shooting sealed the deal to help Hawley defeat East Grand Forks 51-39.
