Thompson at Hillsboro/Central Valley

The Thompson Tommies took advantage of a slow start from the Hillsboro/Central Valley Burros to build a 9-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. Needing some energy, Burro coach Elliot Rotvold turned to his bench and sent in the reserves who responded with an 8-0 run to pull within a point. With both teams playing nearly even the score would never be separated by more than eight points the rest of the way when the Burros opened a 10-2 run after being tied at 32-32 in the opening minute of the 4th quarter to gain the momentum. Thompson did not go away and pulled within a basket after a pair of made free throws with under a minute to play. The Tommies began to foul the Burros to stop the clock and send the Burros to the free throw line. But when HCV tried to catch Thompson off-guard on an inbound pass, the pass went awry and resulted in a turnover that gave Thompson the ball down two points with a chance to tie. The Tommies found a good look in the lane but the shot rolled off the rim and was rebounded by Burros who made 3 of 4 free throws in the waning seconds to ice the game.
