Pequot Lakes at Park Rapids
The Pequot Lakes Patriots picked up their first win of the 2020 season on Thursday, venturing out to Park Rapids to take down the Panthers 28-6.
The game started off with a bang in the form of an 80 yard kickoff return touchdown courtesy of Ryan Monahan on the first play of the game. Following the 2-point conversion, the Patriots led 8-0.
Park Rapids struck back on their first possession, embarking on a 5 play, 53 yard drive that lasted under two minutes and culminated in a 22 yard touchdown hookup between QB Josiah May and WR Nick Michaelson.
Unfortunately for the Panthers, the fun stopped there. They were shut down completely from there on out on offense, with Carter Sjoblad picking May off twice and Bode Magnuson adding another INT to give the Patriot defense three interceptions on the night.
The Patriots converted on two short-field possessions by the end of the first half, with two drives of two plays each, of 22 and 12 yards respectively, culminating in rushing TDs from Erik Larsen and Carter Sjoblad. The Patriots led 22-6 at halftime and never looked back, adding another score off a 9 play, 61 yard drive in the 3rd quarter via a passing touchdown from Bode Magnuson to his younger brother Riggs Magnuson. With Park Rapids stalling on offense, the game ended with the score at 28-6.
