Hinckley-Finlayson at Isle
Isle’s early advantage fell to the wayside and fell to the Hinckley-Finlayson 3-2 Tuesday night on the road. The Huskies began with real knock-down-drag out battles in the opening sets, winning 27-25 and 25-23. The Huskies got behind early in third set and let the Jaguars cut the deficit in half at 2-1 with a 25-17 Jags win. Isle’s tired legs and struggles continued into the fourth set, falling 25-20 to set up the winner-take-all fifth. Hinckley-Finlayson dominated the final set winning 15-11 and picking up their first win of the 2020 season.
The Jags’ Grace Balut led all players with 14 kills and added 7 digs and 6 aces. Emily Stafne added 6 kills and 7 aces; Carlee Stelter added 7 digs.
Isle was led by Tommi Spengler with 4 kills, 16 digs, 2 blocks, and 2 aces. Isabelle Krawiceki had 2 kills and 6 digs; and Jill Thompson had 3 digs and 3 aces.
Isle falls to 1-2 on the season and will stay on the road to face rival Onamia on 10/20, which will be on KKIN-FM 94.3. Hinckley-Finlayson is 1-2 and will stay at home to take on Pine City
