In a back and forth affair the Tri-State Tigers found the endzone in the waning minutes for the game winning touchdown versus the Finley Sharon-Hope Page Spartans. After each team scored on their opening possession to start the game Tri-State would take their first lead on a Derick Carl to Tyler Levenson touchdown pass on 4th and goal to go ahead 12-6 with 3:23 left in the first half. FSHP would then put together a drive of their own with Owen Zurface connecting with Xyler Carlson for their second touchdown pass and recet half with just six seconds reamaing to go into halftime up 14-12 after the 2pt. conversion was good. Tri-State made sure that lead was short lived, with their first play of the quarter being a 53 yards pass from Carl to Brandon Gruenwald for a touchdown just 10 seconds into the third quarter. Carl would add his third touchdown pass of the game minutes later finding Leo Chavez for a 21 yard touchdown and a 26-14 lead with 6:27 remaining in the Third-Quarter. From there, FSHP marched down the field and scored on a Cody Reamer Touchdown run before a bad snap on a Tri-State punt gave the Spartans the ball back on the Tiger 31 yard linemid-way through the Fourth Quarter trailing by four points. Owen Zurface would score from four yards out, after converting on a key 4th down earlier in the drive, to give the lead to the Spartans at 30-26 with 3:17 remaining in the game. Unfazed, Tri-State would go on a 63 yard drive, with the key play being a Tyler Levenson 23 yard catch to help set up a Brandon Gruenwald 10 yard Touchdown run, for the game winning score with 1:39 left in the fourth quarter. FSHP was able to pick up yards on theri next drive but Derick Carl picked off a pass to ice the game for the Tigers. Both teams are now 2-1 with Tri-State hosting Griggs-Midkota and FSHP traveling to MayPort-C-G next Friday.
