East Grand Forks, MN — Despite leading by 14 points at halftime, East Grand Forks boys’ basketball reliniqued their lead and fell to Fertile-Beltrami and lost 72-56, matching their loss total from last season.

The Green Wave went 26-3 last year but now sit at 3-3 after losing to the Falcons (5-1). Fertile-Beltrami extended its winning streak to five and are now 3-0 on the road thanks to three Falcons scoring in double figures. The Falcons endured a 24-4 run and trailed at halftime 24-4.

To push their way back into the contest, the Falcons rattled off a  22-4 run and then capped a 19-4 run the final 10 minutes of play. The Green Wave are 2-1 at home now and are 40-4 since opening its new gym. Two of those losses belong to Fertile-Beltrami with the first coming back on Jan. 9, 2018 in a 77-56 victory for the Falcons.
