Ada-Borup west overcame an 18 point second half deficit to defeat the Crookston Pirates 74-69. The Pirates took advantage of defensive lapses by the Cougars in the first half to get shooters open looks and knock down seven 3-pt. shots to open a 38-27 halftime lead. The Pirates would continue to shoot well in the opening minutes of the second half to lead 54-39 with 10 minutes remaining. While the Cougars were down, they were not out. Coming out of a timeout they outscored the Pirates 24-8 over a 5:28 stretch to pull within two points. Crookston would hit another triple after their own timeout to get back a five point lead that the Cougars erased with a pair of free throws and a 3-pt. shot of their own to tie the game with 3:05 remaining. After three lead changes down the stretch Ada-Borup West took the lead for the final time at the two minute mark and hit free throws at the end to pull off the comeback. Ada-Borup West improves to 6-6 and will next face Mahnomen-Waubun next Friday. Crookston falls to 1-12, and is on a 10 game losing streak, with their next game coming on Monday vs Hawley.
