Aitkin’s offense commanded the tempo throughout and led from the very beginning en route to a 38-6 victory over Esko Friday afternoon.

After forcing a three-and-out and a punt, Aitkin’s first drive led a 4-yard touchdown run from Austin Price, followed by Owen Miller running in the two point conversion and an 8-0 lead. After another short Esko drive, Owen Miller reached the endzone from 12-yards out, with Jake Ince trotting in the two point conversion and a 16-0 lead after the 1st quarter. Esko’s lone score came after Kevin Gregory III taking over at QB and Mason Perich scored on 4th and Goal from the 2 yard line with 2:02 left in the first half. That is all the time Aitkin needed and marched down 70 yards, with the highlight being Caiden Kjelstrom’s 23 yard touchdown throw to Jake Ince and a 22-6 halftime lead.

The second half was a bit sluggish for both teams until Owen Miller scored from 22 yards out with 15 second left in the 3rd and a Gobblers 30-6. The final score of the contest was Kjelstrom’s first pass to Jaeland Williams and his first touchdown of the season.

Aitkin improves to 4-1 on the season with their regular season finale against Pine City back at Veterans Field on Veterans Day. Esko falls to 2-3 with a match against Crosby-Ironton on Thursday in Crosby.
