Owen Miller was a valued asset in all 3 phases for the Aitkin Gobblers 30-6 victory over the Crosby-Ironton Rangers Friday night in the Battle for the Stump.

Aitkin established their gameplan with controlling the line of scrimmage and rattled off a 7:30 drive on the opening series of the game that was capped off by Miller’s 2 yard rushing touchdown. Leading 8-0 after the first quarter, the Gobblers extended their lead with Miller adding a 7 yard rushing touchdown. Crosby-Ironton started to gain momentum nearing the end of the first half, before Owen Miller intercepted the Rangers’ Landon Erickson. That turnover was converted into a score, as quarterback Caiden Kjelstrom connected with Jake Ince from 34 yards out and 22-0 lead at halftime.

Crosby-Ironton came out the locker room, knowing they had to score and came out with a 5 yard touchdown pass from Erickson to Dietrich Winegarner to trim the deficit at 22-6. Aitkin capped off the scoring on the evening with 2:20 left in the 4th off Austin Price’s 5 yard run.

Aitkin is 2-0 with a road match-up against Mora next week. Crosby-Ironton is 1-1 as they hit the road to face Moose Lake/Willow River.
