UMN Extension Hosts Tour at Golden Sunrise Robotic Dairy Farm
McIntosh, MN — The University of Minnesota Extension recently hosted their Northwest Minnesota Dairy Farm Tour, which included a visit to the Golden Sunrise Dairy in Farm north of McIntosh, MN. Golden Sunrise Dairy is one of the few robotics dairy operations in the region and the tour offered ag leaders and other dairy farmers the opportunity to see how a robotic dairy operated up close in person, according to Norman-Polk County Extension Educator Heather Dufualt.
In a very labor intensive industry, Dufault notes the robotic operation not only takes some of the burden off of the farmer owners, but also allows them to remain profitable in a competitive industry as well.
The Golden Sunrise Dairy, owned by the Rolf Family, started milking at their new robotic milking operation in March of 2020.
