“4-H is More Than Agriculture” National 4-H Week
Hillsboro, ND — We continue on with National 4-H Week and sharing the many great opportunities it provides for millions of kids across the nation. Locally we tend to associate 4-H with agriculture and livestock, but Traill County Extension Educator Jill Lagein says 4-H is for anybody and everybody who wants to learn and explore.
Lagein adds that much of the 4-H curriculum is focused on developing the many skills it takes to become leaders in our communities through project-based learning.
While groups are back to meeting in-person, the pandemic forced 4-H clubs to meeting virtually last year. Katie Becker, Polk County Extension Educator, says that actually opened up new opportunities for the youth.
According to Becker, the 4-H empowers nearly 6 million young people nationwide and approximately 66,000 right here in Minnesota.
