NMPH: Trust the Facts When It Comes to COVID Vaccine
Ada, MN — The truth about the effectiveness COVID-19 vaccination is in the data. Data from the CDC and from local hospitals remains consistent in showing that those who are vaccinated are less likely to get COVID, and more importantly less likely to become hospitalized. The North Dakota Department of Health released data this past week that as of September 22nd, 84.9% of all COVID-19 hospitalizations in North Dakota were people who were not fully vaccinated. Sanford Health released similar data. Of the 159 of their patients in their hospital system, 143 were not vaccinated. Of the 45 in the ICU only 2 were vaccinated and of the 34 on ventilators, only 1 was vaccinated. Sarah Kjono of Norman-Mahnomen Public Health notes that the vaccine was created to reduce severe illness and death, and its doing just that.
Not only should we trust the data, but Dr. Jeremy Cauwels, Chief Physician at Sanford Health, says we also need to trust our doctors and medical experts.
According to the CDC, those who are vaccinated are five times less likely to become infected of COVID-19 and are ten times less likely become hospitalized or die.
