Aitkin School Board hears presentation on land potential during September 20th meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin School Board’s regular meeting from Monday continued the conversations on the Capital Projects Levy and the use of school owned land from the High School Media Center.
Mike Schellin from JLG Architects presented before the Board on the most recent talks of the District’s “master plan” for the school land that could potentially serve as a future school site.
Kent Koerbitz for ICS spoke about the Board’s perspective of looking at other recent School District’s new elementary schools.
The Board did move to approve the second readings of policies of Admission to School Activities, Equal Access to School Facilities, Policy 801 Form, Disposition of Obsolete Equipment and Material, Crisis Management, and Health and Safety. Approval was also given for School fundraisers, hirings, resignations, and extracurricular activities.
Business Administrator Heather Hipp laid out the information for the setting the proposed 2021 Payable 2022 Levy at MAXIMUM for the District.
The Aitkin School Board did also approve the Secure Entry Secretary as Full-Time, appointed election judges for the November 2nd School District Special Election, MDE Review and Comment for Capital Projects Levy, and the MSHSL Application for Cooperative Sponsorship for Girls Hockey.
The School Board’s Truth and Taxation meeting will be December 20, 2021 at 6:30pm in the High School Media Center. The next Board meeting will be a Work Session on Monday, October 4th at 7pm.
