City of Pequot Lakes Sets Preliminary Levy, Addresses Detachment Petition, and More from September 7 Council Meeting
(PEQUOT LAKES, MN) — The city of Pequot Lakes held its monthly regular council meeting for September on Tuesday, so we spoke with Mayor Tyler Gardner to get caught up.
Gardner began with the topic of the preliminary levy, which was set during the meeting, but had been in the works for an extended period beforehand.
The city was approved for a FEMA grant for a new firetruck, which Gardner expressed excitement about.
The council also addressed a petition that had been submitted by a group of residents wishing to detach from the city; no action was taken, but Gardner said the conversation was productive.
A discussion on the city’s public works department also took place, and the council made the decision to eliminate the position of the public works director, shifting responsibilities around.
We thank Mayor Gardner for his time. Our full conversation with him, in which he also references a new hire in the city’s police department, can be found below.
