Ada City Council Approves Parking Setbacks on 2nd Ave E; Approves Preliminary Levy
Ada, MN — The Ada City Council held their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday night, September 7th at Council Chambers. During the citizen’s forum, Prairie Dental owner Dr. Dave Resnick and Freedom Fuel and Car Wash owner Nic Prothero were present to discuss a potential parking setback along 2nd Ave east of Highway 9. Dr. Resnick argued that a 20 foot setback would eliminate parking spaces for employees and customers, where as Prothero stated the difficulties trying to cross Highway 9 with the parked cars blocking traffic. The council ultimately voted to approve the setbacks, according to Ada City Administrator Ashley Larson.
As per usual during the September meeting, the Ada City Council approved their preliminary levy at a 5% increase over last year. Administrator Larson says the final levy can be decreased, which it likely will, but cannot be increased.
The Truth in Taxation hearing is set for December 7th.
The council also heard from a pair of Eagle Scouts, Tony Roesch and Gannon Rockstad, who were seeking donations for their Eagle Scout projects, which will help beautify the city of Ada.
And Larson informed the council that there will be a public hearing at their next monthly meeting regarding their pitch to receive a grant that would provides hundreds of thousands of dollars to help residents with home rehab. She strongly encourages community members interested in the program to attend to help them secure the grant.
The Ada City Council also approved appointing Danielle Brommenschenkel to the EDA committee.
Councilmembers Scott Erickson and Casey Krieger will join the KRJB Kaleidoscope Program this Thursday at 9am to further recap this week’s meeting.
