Return to School Means Return of Stress for Some Students
Ada, MN — As students head back to class today, many will be excited to see their friends and favorite teachers and get back to a little bit of normalcy. However not all students may be as excited. For some kids, school during even a non-Covid time can be stressful and throw the fear of COVID on top of that and they can be very anxious. Tracy Johnson with Norman-Mahnomen Public Health says if you feel your child may be struggling with mental health, you should contact them or the school to come up with a plan to relieve some of that stress.
Some of the common sources of student stress and anxiety include homework, social challenges, transitions, and relationships. Some basic ways that students relieve that stress include getting more sleep, daily exercise, taking calming breaths, listening to music, getting organized, and a healthy diet.
