(Breezy Point, MN) — Even with fall sports in the early going of their seasons, hockey season is just right around the corner and the Northern Lakes Youth Hockey Association is opening their doors with a pair of events coming in October and November.
We chatted with hockey mom and NLYHA Board member Kelly Thompson about the upcoming “Try Hockey” events coming up that will open the door for families who may be interested in the sport.
Hockey, along with all sports and activities, keeps kids active and building relationships.
Thompson said that joining the hockey world was an adjustment but has been quite the fun adventure.
The success of the hockey program at the high school level all starts at the youth age groups and working during the offseason.
Thompson says that kids can start playing hockey almost as soon as they can walk.
The “Try Hockey” events are scheduled for October 9th and November 13th at Breezy Point Ice Arena. Our talk with Kelly Thompson can be found with this story here:
