Mahnomen City Council Looks to Continue Rental Rehab Program; Updates Coming to Wild Rice Lounge
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their second regular monthly meeting last Monday, August 16th. At the meeting the council held a public hearing for their Small Cities Development Rental House Rehab Program. Mahnomen Interim City Administrator Kari Kirschbaum says they hope to extend that program.
The Mahnomen City Council also had discussion regarding updates to their City Comprehensive Plan. The city last completed a plan in 2009 and will be seeking an RFP for a new one that will reflect their current goal of doubling their population over the next decade.
And the Mahnomen City Council has approved a number of updates to the Wild Rice Lounge recently, such as new TVs and a revamped patio area, according to Kirshbaum.
The council also approved continuing to pay Wild Rice Lounge employees an $1 per hour over their usual rate for hazard pay. The Wild Rice Lounge will host a street dance featuring 4-Wheel Drive this Saturday night as part of Wild Rice Day.
