Aitkin Public School Board reviews school remodel, COVID mitigation, CPL during August 16th meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin Public School Board heard on future school building plans from an architect, opened up on Back to School Information, and provided another Capital Projects Levy during their regular meeting Monday, August 16th from the High School Media Center.
A representative from JLG Architects presented plans of a future school building site with the land that remains in the Districts ownership.
The School Board did approve the appointments of Alex White as JH Volleyball coach, Dawn Hines as JH Girls Tennis coach, Mike Reem as JH Football coach, and Ann Erlandson as Varsity Assistant Girls Tennis coach. The retirements of Cynthia Christensen and Michele Wetherall, and resignations of Garrett Tetrick, Bruce Wilcox, and Debra Bosserman were accepted.
Superintendent Dan Stifter, in his report, updated the Board on the latest with the remodelling of the High School Building and if they will be ready for the start of the school year.
Stifter also talked about the Back to School Plan and answered any concerns for protocols for continuing COVID mitigation.
The Board is also going to continue to reach out to local organizations and townships on the Capital Projects Levy.
Stifter also addressed MSHSL fees going into the start of the Fall activities season this week.
The Aitkin Public School Board will hold another Work Session meeting on August 30th at 7pm from the High School Media Center.
