Aitkin City Council Meeting from August 16th

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council discussed and took action on a handful of City Projects during their regular meeting from Monday, August 16th at the Aitkin Public Library Community Room.
The Council approved moving their 2nd September meeting to the 22nd and also did approve a pay application of $259,746.90 for the 2021 Street Project. Engineer Phil Martin spoke to the Council on the needs of the money for the Project.
City Administrator Rose Beverly spoke about revising Administration Job Descriptions and additional administrative staff members.
The City will be looking into more options for hiring new administration staff with Beverly leaving in September. Approval was also given for the annual agreement for Aitkin Public Utilities. Council member Amanda Lowe spoke about the latest update concerning paint on the Pickleball Courts/Hockey Rink.
Lon Nicko elaborated on the sand blasting.
The Council did move to bypass the sandblasting and moved to paint the line and put up the nets on the Pickleball Court as it currently stands, but then rescinded the motion in order to get the concrete surface textured to for better grip. The City will also be looking into measures of watering trees on Minnesota Avenue South and possible removal of Emerald Ash Trees.
