Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation Scholarships awarded

(Brainerd, MN) — The Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation, in conjunction with CommunityGiving, announced that seven students receive academic scholarships for the 2021-22 totaling $11,000.
Scholarship recipients included Jordin Graham and Justine Johnson of Aitkin High School each received $1,000 from the Garrison Area Scholarship.
Roxann Emerson and Alaina Larson from Onamia High School each took home $1,000 from the Dr. “Eddy” Silker Scholarship Fund; and Kendra Newalis received $4,000 from the General John and Avis Vessey Fund.
Rebecca Lloyd was awarded $1,500 from the Ed Sauer Memorial Scholarship Fund and Paige Hildebrandt received $1,500 from the Virginia M. Tweeten Scholarship Fund. Both attended Walker-Hackensack-Akeley High School.
CommunityGiving administers 125 separate scholarship funds, which are established by individuals, families, and businesses to support area students in their educational pursuits. BLACF has grown since 1998 to over $14.2 million in assets and awarded over $6.6 million in grants to nonprofits.
