Fosston, MN – As the summer begins to wind down and school sports and activities pick up, one local couples plans to celebrate the end of summer with a kid’s track and field event. Jacob and Kirby Vossler have organized a kid’s track and field night with the help of local support. The event will take place Monday, August 23rd at Thompson Field in Fosston, Minnesota. Starting at 6:30 P.M., kids ages pre-k through 8th grade will enjoy different events free of charge. Jacob Vossler says the idea to hold a track and field night for kids came from the time he spent in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He and his wife also share a deep passion for track and field due to years of involvement.
The events will be separated by age group. Younger participants will take part in a 50 meter dash while older racers will face off in the 100 meter dash. There will also be two field events, a softball throw and standing long jump. Vossler says that adults can also take part in the night, with an optional mile run/walk.
Along with the community support, track and field student athletes from Bagley and Fosston will be helping at the event. Vossler highlights this volunteer work.
