Cash named interim Crosby Mayor; Traylor to Council Seat after August 9th Council meeting

(Crosby, MN) — Diane Cash was appointed Interim Mayor and vacated her Council seat during the Crosby City Council’s regular meeting Monday night from the City Hall Council Chambers Monday, August 9th.
The Council did approve donations, including a Serpent Lake wooden table from Doug Gillette, the hiring of Jill Mertes as Part-Time Library Aide pending background check, the hiring Amanda Dezeeuw as Part-Time DMV Administrative Assistant, and a Special Event Request for Cuyuna Lakes Area Night to Unite for the Crosby Police Department.
City Administrator Matthew Hill presented to the Council the appointment of 7 individuals from the pool of letters of interest for the Bike Safety/signage Committee.
The Council appointed these individuals to serve on the Committee.
The Council did officially accept the letter of resignation from Mayor Jim Hunter and declared a vacancy on the City Council.
Despite objections from Council member Paul Heglund, Council member Diane Cash was appointed Interim Mayor to serve the rest of Hunter’s term, which ends December 31st, 2022. Jim Traylor was appointed to fill Cash’s vacated Council position by the Council itself.
Hallett Community Center General Manager Ivan Bartha brought to the Council a contract with the Northern Lakes Youth Hockey Association for use of the ice arena.
The Crosby City Council is next scheduled to meet on Monday, August 23rd at 6pm from the Cosby City Hall Council Chambers.
