Missoula Children’s Theatre & Ada Summer Children’s Theatre Present the Emperor’s New Clothes
Ada, MN — Just four days after being cast into their roles, the youth of the Ada Summer Children’s Theatre are ready to present their production of The Emperor’s New Clothes with help from the traveling directors of the Missoula Children’s Theatre. There will be two performances today, one at 2:30 and one at 7pm, at the Ada-Borup High School Auditorium. The production is being directed by Brian Carles and Janine Norman, who say that their version of the Emperor’s New Clothes is slightly different from the original tale.
The production stars a couple pairs of siblings with Isabella Hyde as the Emperor, Liz Carlson as Manypenny, and Gabriella Hyde and Olivia Carlson as the Royal Scholars, along with 35 other speaking and non-speaking roles filled by youth of all ages. The casting was completed on Monday in just a couple hours. The directors note that they have the unique advantage of having no bias or knowledge of any of the students prior to casting.
Brian and Janine have been traveling all across the Midwest putting on productions and note that the biggest challenges are that everything changes from week to week, including cast size and ability and venues.
The directors add that the cast and crew have been working tremendously hard all week to put on this production and they strongly encourage everyone in the community to come out and support it.
Catch the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of The Emperor’s New Clothes at 2:30pm and 7pm today at the Ada-Borup High School Auditorium. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for students. Preschool and under are free.
