Traill County Community Giving Projects to Host Drive-Thru Packpack Distribution this Thursday
Mayville, ND — The Traill County Community Giving Project is once again helping to provide families with the necessary school supplies to start off the upcoming school year on the right note. They will be hosting a backpack distribution this Thursday, August 5th from 2-4pm at Mayville Lutheran Church. They are also still accepting donations, preferably monetary donations, to support the program. Beth Morrow and Alicia Knudson say the backpacks will be stuffed with some of the usual school supplies as well as other items that fit into some of the modern learning models students are adapting to.
Back to school shopping can add up to hundreds of dollars per kid when you factor in new clothes, shoes, and school supplies. By providing backpacks and school supplies it helps ease the financial burden on families as well as offer the students a fresh start.
This is a self-referral program and families can just show up to the backpack distribution without any preregistration. They will be asked to complete a simple form during their pickup. The group anticipates to distribute roughly 115 backpacks each school year. Morrow and Knudson add that it’s a very rewarding experience.
You can send monetary donations to: TCCGP, Attn: Backpack program, PO Box 190, Hillsboro, ND 58045. For more information you can also visit the Traill County Community Giving Projects Facebook page or listen to the full interview with Beth Morrow and Alicia Knudson during the Hillsboro Community News program, Tuesday at 1:10pm.
