(Aitkin, MN) — During last week’s Aitkin County Board meeting, Land Commissioner Rich Courtemanche presented to Commissioners on whether to reaffirm the data recovery fee or not since recent discussions of economic development and broadband projects have taken place.
Courtemanche mentioned that last August the Board did continue on with the data recovery fee for the sake of Aitkin County’s parcel databases but times have changed.
The data, such as housing and land data, can be accessible to the public.
Courtemanche did also talk about the need for broadband expansion.
The Aitkin County Board moved forward with removing the data recovery fee and then opened access to GIS data for the public.
