(Aitkin, MN) — Aitkin will get a chance to relive the past with the opening of the town’s Centennial Time Capsule on Saturday, July 17th on the lawn of the Aitkin County Courthouse.

We spoke to Aitkin County Auditor Kirk Peysar and he noted that opening the time capsule is coming at the right time.

Peysar also says the capsule holds significance for him as he was there when it was buried among others that are still a part of the community.

The state of the time capsule will be one to see on Saturday.

Peysar did look back at what could still remain in the capsule through research.

The time capsule opening ceremony will begin at 10am right on the Courthouse lawn this Saturday.

Aitkin’s Sesquicentennial Celebration will be part of Riverboat Days on August 7th.
