Crow Wing County Board Meeting from July 13
(BRAINERD, MN) — The Crow Wing County Board held its first regular meeting of the month of July on Tuesday.
The item that saw the most discussion was a proposal for a plat for a conventional development on Barbeau Road. There were complications that were foreseen in the proposal, first noted by commissioner Paul Koering, involving the distinction of the road being private.
County engineer Tim Bray chimed in by mentioning that, since the road was designated as private, the county had not gotten the specific measurements required to determine whether it could be a township road. Koering continued by suggesting that the plat ought not to be approved with the road being private, citing issues that would crop up in the future.
County administrator Tim Houle agreed with Koering, citing issues with similar roads in the past in his experience.
Ultimately, the board unanimously agreed to table the resolution on the plat until more precise measurements could be obtained.
Finally, board chair Steve Barrows read a proclamation from Governor Tim Walz designating July 27 as County Staff Appreciation Day. Barrows took a moment to thank the staff of Crow Wing County for the work they have put in during the pandemic.
