Ground Work Nearly Complete for Waukon Dairy
Waukon Township, MN — Thanks to a dry spring, progress continues to be made on the 10,500 head Waukon Dairy being built in Waukon township in northeastern Norman County. The groundwork for the facility, which will require 160 acres of concrete, is nearing completion and things will soon be ramping up on the next stages of the construction process, according to Lyle Grimm of Riverview Dairy.
Riverview doesn’t anticipate to start milking cows at the Waukon Dairy until next June. However, this dry summer could have negative impacts as they begin purchasing feed this fall, according to Adam Zeltwanger of Riverview.
The Milk from the Waukon Dairy will be shipped to the Bongards Creamery in Perham where it will be processed into cheese.
Riverview is based out of Morris but has beef and dairy operations in a handful of states and continues to grow. Zeltwanger talks more about Riverview and their values as a company.
The Waukon Dairy is being built approximately 5 miles southeast of Gary, just north of Highway 200.
