Aitkin County Board approves Public Hearing Date for ATV Ordinance at June 22nd meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners met Tuesday afternoon and moved forward with policy updates and contracts from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room on Tuesday.
Commissioners did approve a Temporary On-Sale Liquor (Strong Beer) License for the Aitkin Fire Department the Aitkin County Fair, the Community Corrections Sobriety Court Grant Program, the 2020 Annual Apportionment of Forfeited Tax Sales, and final contract payments for work done throughout the County.
Human Resources Director Bobbie Danielson spoke to the Board on sunsetting the COVID-19 Interim Policy and Preparedness plans.
The Board approved sunsetting the policies as well as the 2021 Open Range Pay Scale for the Long Lake Conservation Center. Land Commissioner Rich Courtemanche presented the report of the 2020 Forfeited Tax Sales Apportionment.
County Engineer John Welle presented a resolution to make CSAH 11 a “No Parking Zone” to accommodate the Temporary Trunk Highway 210 detour.
That resolution was approved but the contract for bridge replacement on 490th Lane was rejected pending new construction bids. County Administrator Jessica Seibert spoke to Commissioners on setting a Public Hearing Date for the ATV Ordinance to allow Class I ATV’s to operate on the shoulder and inside slope of paved county roads.
The Board of Commissioners set a Public Hearing on the ATV ordinance for July 27th at 11am. The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will next meet on July 13th at 9am.
