Aitkin City Council approves change orders for Street Construction Project at June 21st meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council reviewed early updates to the City Street Reconstruction Project and adjusted their next meeting schedule from the Aitkin Public Library Community Room Monday night.
The Council approved the street closure request from the American Legion Post #86 on August 8th, to Authorize and Accept Funds from the IRRRB for the 227 Pacific Street SE project, and also moved the next Council meeting to Tuesday July 6th at 6pm.
Street Commissioner Bob Nicko was presented his retirement plaque after 43 years of service for the City of Aitkin, as the Council took a few moments to praise Nicko for his dutiful work.
The Council approved to accept the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund Established under the American Rescue Plan. A representative from New Life Church in Aitkin spoke before the Council on a Special Event Permit for a “Family Fun Day”.
The Special Event Permit was approved for July 4th from 10am-2pm. Updates and change orders were also presented to the Council for the Street Reconstruction Project.
The change orders were approved by the Council as well as the Pay Application for $314,324.11.
The Aitkin City Council will next meet on Tuesday, July 6th at 6pm from the Aitkin Public Library Community Room.
