Fosston, MN — Make way for the latest summer production from Fosston’s Children’s Theatre! “Moana Jr.” hits the mainstage at the Fosston Library on June 24th. Based on the 2016 Disney movie, the musical is a coming-of-age story about Moana and her quest to save her home village. Along the way she meets the demigod Maui and together the pair embark on a journey full of song and adventure. Director Abby Pearson states that she missed this excitement of staging a children’s musical last summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the uncertainties that came with it.
With restrictions lifted, Pearson is ready to lead the cast of 30 children to a successful performance. The ages of the actors range from 3rd grade to high school seniors, making the musical a fun experience for the whole family. Pearson highlighted the actors’ dedication to the musical with 2 hour practices, five days a week. Notably performers include Alexus Perreault as the title character and Micah Malmanger as the trickster Maui. Pearson noted the immense support from the community as well.
The show opens Thursday, June 24th and runs through Saturday, June 26th. Curtain rises at 7 P.M. each night. Opening night tickets are sold out, but the 25th and 26th still have open seats. Tickets are available at Nord’s Pharmacy and Gifts for $5 a ticket and a limited quantity will be sold at the window.
