FSA Reports on Intense Dry Conditions
By: Mary Balstad
Polk County, MN — Nathan Peterson with FSA gave his weekly report on Thursday, June 17th. With temperatures rising, FSA urges farmers to keep a close eye on crops and livestock in these dry conditions. Peterson reminds that FSA is monitoring these weather conditions and offer disaster programs based on U.S. drought monitor. These programs include the Livestock Forage Program and the Emergency Hay and Grazing Program. Peterson further explains what conditions need to be met in regards to the programs.
In order to be eligible, all pastures should be included in the acreage report. The deadline for the acreage report is July 15th. As there is only 20 working days left until the deadline, make sure to call the FSA office to schedule an appointment and complete the acreage report to certify.
Weather conditions will be closely monitored and updates will be reported as needed.
