Baxter Council Reviews Water Treatment, Roads, and More from June 15 Meeting
(BAXTER, MN) — The city of Baxter held its second regular council meeting of the month on Tuesday, so we spoke with Mayor Darrel Olson to get caught up.
Olson began with a quick note that a new credit union, Wings, would be coming to a spot near the Costco.
Olson then discussed the ongoing issues with the city’s water treatment plan, issues that prompted an emergency meeting last week. The temporary fix, Olson says, has been sharing with Brainerd’s plant.
He also mentioned that while the issues with Baxter’s plant continue to be resolved, there might be an official limitation imposed on watering outdoor areas to prevent pressure issues, adding that this is something that tends to be an issue state-wide this time of the year.
Olson wrapped up with the topic of roadways and said that the city would be testing a new technique called “microsurfacing” that could help with the long term integrity of road projects.
We thank Mayor Olson for his time. The city of Baxter will hold its next regular council meeting on July 6. Our full interview with Olson may be found below.
