Hillsboro City Commission Moving Forward With Shipping Container Ordinance
Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission is moving forward with creating an ordinance that would prohibit the use of shipping containers on residential lots. The commission discussed the matter at their regular meeting on Monday night. Although they offer optimal storage for users, shipping containers can be quite unsightly for neighbors. Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando says under the new ordinance, they may be able to still be utilized for temporary use with a variance.
Those in Hillsboro already with shipping containers would be grandfathered in under the new ordinance.
The Hillsboro City Commission is also updating their liquor ordinance to allow for a “Brew Pub” license, according to Sando.
The Brew Pub license is being created to accommodate the new Goose River Brewery currently under construction in downtown Hillsboro. It is expected to open in mid-July.
