Norman County East School Presents Spring Musical “At the Blake”
Twin Valley, MN – The cast and crew of the Musical “At the Blake” written by Minnesota composer Tim O’Brien and his sister Alvina Hart at the Norman County East School is ready to break a leg this weekend! A classic who-done-it arises when every guest at a small hotel comes under suspicion for a diamond heist, and a bumbling inspector makes a hash of the investigation.
Director Carrie Jirava says like most everything, this production was pushed back due to the pandemic.
Sophia Lien will play the part of the bumbling inspector. Other guests who raise suspicion include millionaire Claire, (Gabby Askelson), her new husband, Eddie Connor, (Soren Hoekstra), Mr. Smith, (Amelia Gunnufson), and Mrs. Romsley, (Annabelle Begg). The Manager (Michaela Halvorson) tries to help the inspector solve the crime while the hotel assistant, Jack, (Caitlin Boman) makes a blundering mess of everything.
Junior Gabby Askelson tells us why she joined the production.
Askelson says they have needed to adjust their practice schedule for the musical based on other activities that the cast and crew are part of at Norman County East.
Soren Hoekstra says he prefers the singing to the acting part, but has enjoyed the challenge of putting together the musical, especially when he took on one of the leads.
Come and enjoy this mysterious comedy at Norman County East Friday, May 21st at 1:30 pm or Sunday, May 23rd at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for students and are available by contacting any senior high choir member or by emailing Carrie Jirava at firstname.lastname@example.org.
