Wild Rice Electric Reminds Farmers to Watch Out for Power Lines
Mahnomen, MN — As the snow melts off the fields and spring returns, farmers will be itching to get back into the fields. But whether you are planting corn, doing tillage work, fertilizing, or just doing work around the farmstead, Wild Rice Electric is asking area farmers to use caution and avoid power lines. Tommy Houdek with Wild Rice Electric says farm equipment continues to get bigger, but the power lines remain the same height.
Coming into contact with a live wire not only can cause extensive damage, but Houdek says with farm equipment especially, it can be deadly.
In the event that you do come in contact with a live power line, Houdek says you should never leave the piece of equipment you are in unless you absolutely have to.
