(Brainerd, MN) — Crow Wing County recently received grant funds, totaling $32,746, from the Minnesota Board of Water & Soil Resources to provide funding to replace or protect septic systems for low income residents.
In 2020, the County received $18,600 in loans from the funds to residents through a loan grant program to ensure that groundwater is being disbursed from human contaminants. Residents can go to the Crow Wing County website to fill out the application and read more information on the lending program through the Region Five Development Commission. Those who receive funding will be provided a loan at 3-percent for 60 months for the cost of the projects. The terms of the loan are set by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.
Funding will depend on the cost of the system, yearly income, and size of household. Priority of funding will first be given to low and very low-income landowners. For those interested in learning more about the program, contact Region Five Development Commission – Stephanie Barney at 218-296-5201.
