Mayville, ND — A week ago the President of Mayville State University teased a major announcement for Mayville and Traill County and on Wednesday night in a packed Lewy Lee Fieldhouse he delivered. It was announced the University is going primetime, as the nationally syndicated television show, Small Town Big Deal will be in Mayville this September 16th – 19th. The show hosted by Rodney Miller and Jann Carl debuted in 2012 and follows them as “they travel the United States sharing inspirational stories about communities, people, events and happenings.” Carl, who joined the presentation via Zoom, said the show has visited 45 states and is excited to make their first trip to North Dakota. Van Horn says it will be great to show off the University to viewers all across the country, and potentially attract new students to Mayville State.

Van Horn noted that due to COVID-19 the process of getting the show to come took about two years due to the show shutting down production last spring, but says he is excited the show will come during the school’s Farmers Bowl celebration and can give viewers a look at some of the unique festivities associated with the event.

The 2021 Farmers Bowl game is scheduled for September 18th at Jerome Berg Field in Mayville against rival Dickinson State. Small Town Big Deal is broadcast across the country on RFD TV and is syndicated to over 200 TV stations across the US. Locally the show is aired on KVLY Channel 11 on Saturday mornings at 6:30.
