HCV Baseball Fundraiser for Facility Improvements
Hillsboro, ND — With the Hillsboro Events Center, football field and running track, the Olsen Softball Complex and fitness center, Hillsboro has some of the nicest sports facilities in North Dakota Class B athletics according to Ben Strand, but the Hillsboro-Central Valley assistant Baseball coach says one facility is lagging behind, the team’s baseball field. He and the team are hoping to change that by launching a fundraising campaign to raise money for improvements to be made to the Burros baseball field. Strand says the money raised will be used first to build an outdoor batting cage at the field followed by some cosmetic changes to the baseball field.
The campaign is currently taking pledges with the singles club donation being $25 all the way up to the grand slam club for businesses or individuals that donate $1000 or more. Strand says donors will see their name placed either behind the team’s dugout or along the fields press box while grand slam donors will receive a banner hung along the outfield fence.
Improvements to the baseball field are ongoing and one of those will be on display for HCV fans attending games this season. Beginning last fall and finishing this spring Burro softball coach Cory Erickson and his father Lee built a new backstop and netting at the field similar to the one at the softball diamonds. Strand says this will improve the spectator experience at the field.
Individuals can contribute monetarily, but Strand says there are also other ways to donate to the project as well.
