Aitkin County Board discusses posting of Economic Development Coordinator at March 23rd Meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners held their second meeting in the month of March Tuesday morning from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room.
Commissioners did approve applications to Make Retail Sales of Cigarette & Other Tobacco Products, Fire Protection Contracts, The Highway Department’s purchase of a Pickup Truck, a $1,000 donation from Wealthwood Township to the Search & Rescue Group, and awarded a contract bid to Envirotech Services, Inc for the purchase of 320,000 gallons of calcium chloride for the Highway Department.
Following Auditor Kirk Peysar speaking for a Application to Make Retail Sales of Cigarette & Other Tobacco Products for Fisherman’s Bay which was approved, County Engineer John Welle presented to Commissioners a purchase request for three Tandem Plow Trucks.
Approval was given for the three plow trucks from Nuss Truck and Equipment, Inc of Roseville, MN at a cost of $322,906 and the CPV Contract Cost of $327,447 from Berts Trucking Inc of Moorhead, MN. County Administrator Jessica Seibert informed the Board on the Economic Development Coordinator Job Description and & Posting.
Board Chair Commissioner Mark Wedel voiced his concerns on this position, especially when it comes to helping Aitkin County thrive.
The Job Description and Posting was approved unanimously by the Aitkin County Commissioners. Administrator Seibert, under her Administrator updates, updated the Board on important information concerning the American Rescue Plan.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners will meet again on Tuesday, April 13th from the BoardRoom of the Aitkin County Government Center.
