Hill City Mayor resigns over residence, Special Council meeting set for March 22nd

(Hill City, MN) — The City of Hill City Council meeting from Tuesday, March 16th was notable for the immediate resignation of Mayor Lonnie Lee following this on-going dispute between the City and himself over the affirmation of his place of residence in order to serve as Mayor of Hill City.
We spoke with Council member Sean Lathrop following an Emergency Council Meeting Wednesday night to provide the next steps for the Council and appointment of an Interim Mayor.
Lathrop and the Council still hold now-former Mayor Lonnie Lee is high regard and want the best for the future of Hill City.
With Lathrop serving as Interim Mayor in the immediate, his City Council seat has been vacated, The Council is taking any interest from Hill City residents in filling the seat now. Contact City Hall by calling 218-697-2301- reach them by email.
The City of Hill City Council will be having a Special Meeting on Monday, March 22nd at 10am to officially accept the resignation of Mayor Lonnie Lee and decide what the next step is.
