(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin City Council held their second meeting in the month of March on Monday to continue their stance of Legislative action at the State Capital from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
The Council did approve resolutions of opposition for Prohibited Local Government Lobbying, Discontinuation of Municipal Liquor Store Operations, and approved a resolution for authorizing the City of Aitkin to make application to and accept funds from the IRRRB and Peddler applications for Smokey Jake’s BBQ.
The Council did review Minnesota SF 915, which would limit local government municipal planning and zoning controls. Council member Kathy Galliger says the proposed legislation steps over the line of local and State governance.
Galliger also continued on with the Legislature’s reach on infringing on the City government’s ability to govern.
The Aitkin City Council also approved a resolution of Calling a Public Hearing on the Intention to Issue General Obligation Street Reconstruction Plan Bond and the Proposal to Adopt a Street Reconstruction Plan Therefor.
The Aitkin City Council is next scheduled to meet on April 5th at 6pm from the Community Room of the Aitkin Public Library.
