St. Paul, MN — District 4 State Senator Kent Eken of Twin Valley continues to strive for improving the lives of elders, those in long-term care, and people with disabilities in Minnesota. In his latest effort, Senator Eken is introducing a constitutional amendment that would create a dedicated fund for long-term care for the most vulnerable citizens. Eken says this issue is every bit as important as other constitutionally dedicated funded items such as roads and bridges and clean water.

Senator Eken points out that as the baby-boomer generation continues to increase in age, their long-term care needs are going to increase dramatically, and the state needs to be prepared to handle it.

Senator Eken also shared a humorous anecdote on the importance of not ignoring the problem at hand through his experiences of flying.

Eken is the ranking minority member of the Aging and Long Term Care Policy Committee.
