City of Brainerd Discusses Sign Ordinance, Crosswalks, and More from March 1 Meeting
(BRAINERD, MN) — The city of Brainerd held its first regular council meeting on Monday, March 1, so we spoke with Mayor Dave Badeaux to gather the latest intel.
Badeaux started off by mentioning plans for the city to begin working on its crosswalks in the downtown area, as well as the creation of more wayfinding downtown to help pedestrians as the weather warms up.
The city also made the decision to raise awareness for city equipment and their safety by announcing plans to name some pieces of equipment including snow plows. The names will be decided by members of the public in the coming weeks.
Badeaux said that the council also had a heavy discussion relating to its sign ordinance, and heard from plenty of citizens who voiced their opinions on it. Ultimately, it was decided that the city’s planning and zoning commission should take a look at it.
Finally, Badeaux provided an update on the proposed splash pad that could be installed as part of the city’s Memorial Park project, and with the city matching funds raised for it up to $100,000, he encouraged those interested to donate to the project as the summer nears and the project approaches finalization.
We thank Mayor Badeaux for his time. The city of Brainerd will hold its next regular council meeting on March 15. Our full interview with Badeaux can be found below.
