Norman County East Elementary Joins High School in Distance Learning
Twin Valley, MN — The Norman County East Elementary is joining the High School in distance learning for the next week following an outbreak of COVID-19 in the school. It was originally planned that just the high school would be distance learning, but following a community testing event with Norman-Mahnomen Public Health it became known that the outbreak had expanded to the elementary due to family connections, according to Norman County High School Principal Dustin Flaten.
The plan is for both the high school and elementary to return to in-person learning on March 4th. Until then all activities are on hold as well, but Principal Flaten says they are meeting with Ulen-Hitterdal to figure out how to best proceed.
Moving forward, Flaten is strongly encouraging parents, students, and community members to continue to be vigilant in protecting themselves and others from COVID-19 to prevent an instance like this from happening again.
