Hillsboro City Commission News & Notes from 2-16-21 Meeting
Hillsboro, ND — The Hillsboro City Commission held their second regular monthly meeting last Tuesday, February 16th. At the meeting the commission got an update on the work being done by the city auditor to address their financial discrepancies. Hillsboro City Commission President Terry Sando says they are making good progress in straightening out the paperwork.
The City of Hillsboro is also working on a new website and as an added feature they are looking into video streaming their meetings on a YouTube Channel, which would be viewable on the site.
The Hillsboro City Commission also got a request for some updates to the Armory on behalf of the Mayville State Child Development Program, which leases the space. President Sando says the city approved chipping in for some of the costs for paint and new doors.
And now that COVID-19 appears to be slowing in the community, the commission had discussions about reopening the Hillsboro Community Center back to the public for events. Sando says approved a few requests at the meeting and will continue to approve them on a case-by-case basis.
Also at this week’s meeting, the Hillsboro City Commission approved moving forward with a USDA loan and grant to install a new 12 inch pipeline under I-29 for the water distribution system and sanitary sewer pipeline.
