City of Brainerd Decides on Acting Police Chief, Local Government Aid, and More from February 16 Council Meeting
(BRAINERD, MN) — The city of Brainerd met for its second council meeting of the month of February on Tuesday. We spoke with Mayor Dave Badeaux to hear the latest.
Badeaux updated us on a situation that has been developing for the last several months: finding a new police chief for the city in the wake of Corky McQuistan’s retirement last year.
The city also decided on its Community Member of the Month.
Badeaux then discussed construction projects, mentioning that the next few years would be very busy in that regard. Specifically, he talked about renovations for the bridge on Highway 25 as well as the Cuyuna Lakes State Trail.
Finally, Badeaux discussed the city’s resolution regarding LGA (Local Government Aid), an issue that he says is important to understand as it has become more partisan.
We thank Mayor Badeaux for his time. The next regular city council meeting for Brainerd is scheduled for March 1. Our full interview with Mayor Badeaux can be found below.
