Norman County Salvation Army Provides Update on Red Kettle Campaign

Ada, MN — The Norman County Salvation Army is close to their annual fundraising goal of $6,000 as they near the end of their Red Kettle Campaign. However, they would be much further away if it wasn’t for a $3,000 grant from the Norman County CARES Committee. The local Salvation Army has seen a major drop in usual Red Kettle donations as they have to rely solely on countertop donations at participating Norman County businesses. Aimee Eggen with the Norman County Salvation Army says not being able to have bell ringers out and about at local holiday festivals this winter has led to a significant drop in donations.
The money raised from the Red Kettle Campaign essentially sets the budget for the next year. John Rosenberger says all the money in the budget will go towards providing one-time emergency assistance for people in need throughout the county.
Even though they should meet their yearly goal, Eggen strongly encourages people to continue to donate because there will likely be a high demand for assistance in 2021.
If you would like to make a donation to the Norman County Salvation Army, the red kettles will still be in stores until December 28th. Otherwise, you can mail a check to PO BOX 44, Ada, MN 56510. Please make checks payable to “Norman County Salvation Army.” Please contact Aimee at 218-784-5427 or John at 218-784-5494 for more information.
